I’ve had dogs all my life and fed a wide range of foods over the years…… but in 2011 we lost one of our dogs and my first show dog, Stan was born. He came to us from the breeder on a dry kibble but talking to others at the shows and other breeders I was introduced to the idea of a raw diet for my dogs.

As well at Stan, at 3 months old we had Jake an elderly Border Terrier. He had been struggling with arthritis, skin issues, bad breath and didn’t really like his food …. swapping onto a raw diet seemed a wise choice – and they both loved it. We started with Wolftucker but feed a wide range of products from a number of fabulous suppliers – there wasn’t anything they turned their noses up at. Jake’s arthritis improved, his breath improved, energy levels and enjoyment of life. From a dog that we didn’t think had much longer left we had a puppy loving life and an elderly dog thinking he was a puppy again! He lived for another 4 years until he was 16 years old and I 100% put that down to a change in diet.

Stan did well in the show ring and judges commented on his teeth, coat conditions, muscle and tone, even his smell – raw fed dogs smell better! We got Betty in early 2013 at 8 weeks old and she was joined by Stan’s son in late 2013. Betty was fed raw from 8 weeks and Percy was weaned onto raw.

We love feeding raw as no two meals need to be the same, they have variety, balance and interest in every bowl. They have raw meaty bones 2-3 times a week which helps keep teeth extra clean and satisfies their need to chew.

I then became more interested in adding different textures, vegetables, nuts, seeds, eggs and more…. I added salmon oil, and now add flax oil, we use herbs and superfoods like spirulina, I respond to their needs and feed appropriately.

In September 2014 we had our first litter of pups and again I saw how well both mum and pups did on raw food. We have raised 5 litters on raw and now have 3 generations of raw fed dogs who have never had chemical wormers/flea and tick treatments. We use vaccines only when necessary and prefer to measure immunity and again respond if needed. None of the dogs we have now or have bred have needed any major veterinary treatment. None have allergies, skin issues, ear infections, anal gland issues …. Everything I see in many customers dogs when they first visit, usually at the end of their tether and after spending £0000’s of pounds at vets. We can’t fix everything with a raw diet, but it can make a massive difference to the health and quality of life the dog that is on a biologically species appropriate diet.

My passion for raw food and healthy dogs turned into an obsession and a change of career was needed at the end of 2015. My ex-boss asked me in front of my class of children ( I was a teacher)  “What will you do next?”neither she nor I was expecting to hear what I said next – ‘I am going to open my own raw dog food shop and make a difference to our dogs lives’ The children I taught got it and cheered (They knew how much I loved animals) and there the idea was born…. The rest is history and the shop opened in June 2016.

My learning journey with nutrition, raw feeding, holistic treatments, alternative therapies never ends.  I learn something new every day. I attend seminars with raw feeding vets, listen to webinars with leading practitioners, I study nutrition and research the effects of diet, medicines and vaccines. I also have a background in human food nutrition and production (Pre teaching days) so have an understanding how nutrition affects humans, how food processing changes the nutritional value of food and many of those principles apply to canine nutrition as well.

I hope to continue sourcing great, healthy and ethical food for your cats (yes we do feed cats raw as well!) and dogs. I will continue to support my customers throughout their dogs lives.
